Jamilah is a communications professional with ten years of experience developing and executing strategies that increase engagement, awareness, and reputation. As a Black woman, she’s focused on ethical storytelling, using communications for good, and amplifying Black and brown voices.
Prior to her role at the EEC, Jamilah was the Assistant Director for Marketing and Communications at the University of Washington College of Built Environments. There, she led digital and social media strategies, cultivated content marketing approaches, and established media relations to amplify the college’s visibility and engagement.
Passionate about reproductive and social justice, she earned her degree in Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies from the University of Washington. While at the UW, she served as the ASUW Women’s Action Commission Director and played on the UW Women’s Rugby team, serving as a fundraiser and Vice President of the team.
Jamilah is a former Commissioner on the Seattle Women’s Commission at the City of Seattle. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for Gifts of Hope and as a member of the Planned Parenthood Votes Washington PAC.
In her free time, she enjoys spoiling her cats, trying new restaurants and breweries with her husband, and spending time in her garden.
