We believe in transparency and in the power of community. That’s why we’ve chosen to speak out.
For years, community-based organizations like ours have delivered digital equity services that reached hundreds of thousands of Washingtonians. But in 2025, Commerce stopped reimbursing our work. As a result, we’ve had to lay off staff, delay payments, and consider unimaginable choices to stay afloat.
An article has been published, sharing our experience with the Washington State Department of Commerce and the devastating impact that delayed reimbursements have had on our organization and partners across the ConnectWA Coalition.
This article sheds light on what we, and many of our partners, have been navigating behind the scenes. It’s about more than money. It’s about broken systems, uneven power, and a deep need to rebuild trust.
We’re proud of the work we’ve done. And we remain committed to ensuring that the people most impacted by digital inequity are never left behind.
We invite you to read the article and stand with us in calling for accountability, transparency, and investment in the communities doing the work.
